Last year our family purchased a condominium in Santa Rosa Cove. The unit was old, tired and we knew it needed to be renovated. Since we live in the San Francisco Bay Area we also knew we had a limited amount of time that we could spend overseeing this project. After interviewing a number of people it became very clear to us that Total Construction, and specifically Connie Galati, was the person to work with. Connie Galati managed the entire renovation process for us. We appreciated her creativity and artistic talent. When we asked Connie for her recommendations, she always had one — as opposed to the majority of contractors who told us it was our choice. We had so much confidence, because we had seen samples of her work, that we gave her complete artistic freedom to pick colors, tiles, paint, etc. Connie’s input was invaluable to us and her subcontractors did a top-notch job. Her billing invoices were always itemized thoroughly and she communicated with us often by e-mail. We found her bid extremely competitive but most important we just felt comfortable with Connie as a professional and as a person. I have been a Claims Adjuster for a major insurance company for the past 21 years. I first met Connie Galati at a Fire loss located in Palm Springs, CA in July of 1999. This home was originally built in the 1930’s and had many unique and complicated styles of construction and materials. Needless to say, there were many challenges associated with the reconstruction of the house as well as the adjustment of the claim. Connie did an exceptional job as the general contractor. She was dependable, prompt, forthright, and very accommodating to both the insured and myself. All of the sub-contractors and workers she employed were professional, competent and very versed in their trades. The homeowner was very meticulous in his expectations of the reconstruction, which further added to the challenges of the job. Connie, however, was very successful in meeting those high expectations of the insured. I regarded her as an invaluable asset in dealing with all parties of the claim. She is very knowledgeable, professional and trustworthy in her practices. I would highly recommend her services as a general contractor on any type of restoration job.
My husband Jonathan and I have had the pleasure of working with Connie Galati of Total Construction on two very different projects in Palm Springs. The first project was a major restoration of a 1936 streamline modern house that had been severely damaged by fire. It was a challenging and complicated project because the original foundation and other original “parts” were being combined with new construction that had to meet current code. Connie was EXTREMELY detail oriented, and there were an incredible amount of details to be dealt with. Her previous experience working with insurance claims was a definite asset on this project. As with any major construction project, it was not without some frustrating days, but Connie kept things moving along. The end result is that we have an amazingly beautiful home of very high quality. The second project we worked on was the interior remodel of a retail store for my clothing line at 891 N. Palm Canyon Drive. Every surface of the space was redone. Dressing rooms, a storage room, alcoves for the clothing and a dropped ceiling were built into the space. Some unusual materials were used including vintage wallpaper, glass beads and mirror tiles applied to the walls in a herringbone pattern. Connie was great about figuring out how to apply the various non-standard materials. She knew that the sooner the store opened, the better, and had a sense of urgency about completing the project. Both projects have been published in various magazines including Interior Design, House and Garden, Elle Decor, and Palm Springs Life. The best recommendation we could give is that if we were to do another project in the desert, we would not hesitate to call Connie.

From the first time you came to give us an estimate to the final completion of the project you were professional, competent, thorough and most importantly a pleasure to work with. We were impressed that the total cost came in very close to the final estimate. We never once felt that you did not have our best interests at heart when you suggested things that increased the budget. Connie, your input into the design was invaluable. We are 3,000 miles away and yet I felt that we were looking through your eyes as the work was underway. You were careful to check with us on the smallest detail and yet kept the big picture in view. I don’t think we ever could have managed without your assistance and suggestions with selections. A special thanks for going above and beyond to wait for our furniture delivery on a Saturday night! Tony, the tile work was exquisite. The workmanship is beyond compare and your advice on the layout was exactly right. We know we will enjoy it for years to come. In March of this year, we purchased a condo in Santa Rosa Cove and interviewed three contractors to do extensive work throughout the home. We had the good fortune to hire Tony and Connie Galati of Total Construction. The experience has been a most pleasant one, for they have been able to consult with us and pay attention to details that so often in these busy times are ignored. They were always available to discuss matters which made the process easier, especially since we live in Chicago and were not around to supervise in any meaningful way. They had adhered to their bids so much that we are almost finished and have not had one disagreement over price and we have kept a pretty keen eye on same. Finally, I must mention that above all, the quality of their work and the people they have subcontracted has been just excellent. It is incredible. Everywhere I go, something has been improved and beautified. The floors are beautiful; beyond what I ever imagined could be done. Every trip out to the garage reminds me of the old duct tape fix we had. The kitchen looks like an entire makeover and Chris is antsy to try out the cook top (I think we will generate some BTU’s with that thing!). The only ding is the one I made moving a table when I was too tired to be doing anything at all. I will try to touch it up myself. We are so happy. Thank you. Please come by and see our progress. Chris is in the pool and I am resting in the family room, taking in all the changes. The dogs are glad to be home, too.
